A three-tier waterfall in the Chiem Hoa forest, each tier dropping into a clear pool under Phieng Khang mountain.
Twenty-five kilometres past Chiem Hoa, then a kilometre on foot through forest, and you hear it. Ban Ba falls in three linked tiers on the Ba stream: Tat Cum, the highest, drops straight into a deep jade pool; Tat Cao and Tat Gio are lower but wider, the water spreading over rock in thin veils. Untouched forest closes in on all sides, and the terraced fields of the Tay village of Ban Ba wrap the foot of the mountain. Recognised as a national scenic site in 2007, it has somehow kept its quiet.
