A dazzling gilded Khmer pagoda, considered one of the largest and most beautiful Khmer pagodas in Vietnam.
Vam Ray Pagoda, in Tra Cu district, is a Khmer pagoda of rare splendor in the Mekong Delta. The entire pagoda is lacquered and gilded in brilliant gold, glittering in the sunlight with signature Angkor architecture, multi-tiered pointed roofs and exquisitely carved reliefs. Inside the main hall lies a majestic reclining Buddha more than fifty meters long, one of the largest in Vietnam. Throughout the grounds stand statues of the Kinnari celestial maiden, the Naga serpent deity and elaborate gilded motifs. Here, visitors not only pay homage but also behold the pinnacle of Theravada Khmer Buddhist architecture and sculpture.
Year-round, most beautiful in the dry season from November to April
