Hue's largest market on the river bank, and a full circuit of everyday royal-city cooking.

Dong Ba dates from the Nguyen period, stands at the northern end of Truong Tien bridge, and is a place to eat rather than to shop. The food section lays out all the Hue dishes you would otherwise chase across the city: bun bo, banh beo, banh nam, banh loc, banh khoai, lotus-seed sweet soup, com hen. Alongside are stalls of me xung candy, tom chua and Hue shrimp paste, and conical poem hats — thin palm hats with a picture and a line of verse pressed between the leaves, visible only when you hold them to the light. It is crowded, tight and quotes high; but it is the fastest way to understand what Hue eats.
