One of the four great passes of the northwest, a spectacular cloud-covered road linking Lai Chau and Sa Pa over the Hoang Lien Son range.

Crossing the Hoang Lien Son range at nearly 2,000m, O Quy Ho Pass is one of the most magnificent of the northwest's 'four great passes', linking Lai Chau and Lao Cai. The nearly 50km road winds along sheer cliffs — a fathomless abyss on one side, old primeval forest on the other. It is also called the 'Cloud Pass' because it is shrouded in cloud all year, forming a mesmerising sea of cloud. From the summit on the Lai Chau side, visitors gaze across the rolling Hoang Lien Son range, chase clouds and watch glorious sunsets. In winter, the summit is sometimes coated white with ice and frost.
