Suoi Tranh Waterfall

A stream running through forest in the island's interior, pooling under the canopy.

On an island everyone assumes is only beaches, Suoi Tranh is a reminder that Phu Quoc has a forested mountain core. The stream rises in the Ham Ninh range, runs about fifteen kilometres through forest and out to sea, and the stretch opened to visitors is a short section with a path along the bank, large boulders and pools deep enough to sit in. It has to be said plainly: in the dry season from December to April the stream is nearly empty and what is left is rock — so this is a place worth visiting in the wet season, when there is water and the forest is green.

Did you know

Travel tips

Only worth going in the wet season, May to November — in the dry season it is bare rock.
The rocks in the streambed are slippery; wear sandals with a heel strap or grippy shoes.
