Hon Thom Cable Car — Kien Giang

A cable car nearly eight kilometres across the sea, flying over floating fishing villages.

This is the longest three-rope cable car over water in the world: nearly eight kilometres from An Thoi at the southern tip of Phu Quoc out to Hon Thom island, about fifteen minutes each way. What makes the ride is not the destination but the middle of it: the cabin runs a few dozen metres above clear blue water, with the scattered An Thoi archipelago below and floating fishing villages where hundreds of boats are moored in clusters. At the far end are a leisure park and beaches on Hon Thom. Plenty of people ride out and back without getting off — which is a perfectly reasonable choice.
