A northern delta village left nearly intact: gate, communal pond, a nine-span stone bridge and centuries-old houses.

Nom Village kept what most delta villages have lost: the whole ensemble. An old brick gate opens onto a stone-paved lane running straight to a wide communal pond, with the venerable Tam Giang communal house mirrored in it. Across the Nguyet Duc river runs a nine-span stone bridge, dragon heads carved into its railing, said to be over two hundred years old. Dozens of old bare-brick houses stand around the lanes, and Nom Pagoda holds more than a hundred terracotta statues — one of the largest surviving sets of earthen statuary in Vietnam, which has come through several great floods.
