Hung Yen — Pho Hien

The land of Pho Hien, glorious in its day, homeland of the royal-tribute longan, dotted with ancient relics.

Hung Yen is a land steeped in historical sediment, once home to the bustling Pho Hien port immortalized by the saying 'First the Capital, second Pho Hien.' Today, Hung Yen preserves the Pho Hien relic complex with hundreds of ancient temples and pagodas, along with its distinctive blend of Eastern and Western culture. In particular, Hung Yen's longan was once chosen as tribute to the king, its clear sweetness hard to forget. In Hung Yen, visitors feel as if they are traveling back in time to a quietly contemplative ancient town beside the Red River.

Best time to visit: July to August (longan season)
