The Note Coffee

A café papered wall to ceiling in customers' sticky notes, written in every language going.

Every surface in the place — walls, ceiling, stair treads, banister — is covered in coloured sticky notes left by customers. There are good wishes, declarations of love, the email address of someone met on the road that morning, written in Vietnamese, English, Korean, Japanese, Hebrew, Arabic. Staff hand you a note and a pen along with your coffee, and old layers get stripped away periodically to make room, so what you are reading is the last few months rather than the café's whole history. It sits right by Hoan Kiem Lake, which makes it an easy stop midway through a walk around the Old Quarter.
