The riverside lawn where Seoul spreads out mats, orders fried chicken and watches the sun set behind the bridges.
The Han River is so wide that the far bank looks like a different city, and Seoulites have turned both banks into their shared living room. Late afternoon, the Yeouido lawn fills with mats and pop-up tents; ordering fried chicken delivered to you on the grass is a ritual. Rent a bike and ride the riverside path, or take a cruise past Banpo Bridge as it fountains water to music. At the end of March the Yunjung-ro road just behind the park turns white with cherry blossom and the whole city comes.
