Gochang Dolmen Site

Gochang Dolmen Site — Jeonbuk

The densest concentration of dolmens on earth — more than 440 on a single hillside.

If Ganghwa has the most famous dolmens, Gochang has the numbers: more than four hundred and forty scattered along a ridge about two kilometres long, in every size and style, from tall table types to capstones laid almost on the ground. Walking the trail between them, you pass through three thousand years of history and meet almost no one. Nearby stands Gochang Eupseong fortress, where tradition has women walk the wall with a stone on their head for good health.
