Three hundred and sixty thousand cherry trees burying a naval town, including Korea's most photographed railway and stream.

In late March the naval town of Jinhae disappears under blossom. More than three hundred and sixty thousand cherry trees flower at once and the whole country turns up for the Gunhangje festival. Two spots have queues: Gyeonghwa station, where an old railway line runs through eight hundred metres of blossom tunnel; and the Yeojwacheon stream, where branches lean over the water on either side of a small bridge made famous by a television drama. Outside blossom season Jinhae is an ordinary naval port town, quiet and largely unvisited.

Blossom season is extremely crowded — take a train to Changwon and a bus; don't drive.
