A 3.5 km west-coast beach that turns every July into the playground of the Boryeong Mud Festival.

The mud of Boryeong bay is so rich in minerals that it is used in cosmetics, and in 1998 the province found a way to advertise it: spread it over the beach and invite everyone to play. The Boryeong Mud Festival is now one of the summer events that draws the most foreign visitors in Korea — mud slides, mud wrestling, mud baths and live music until late, everyone equally filthy. Outside festival season Daecheon is an ordinary beach with a very good sunset, because it faces west.
