Baekje's last capital, with a river cliff and the oldest garden pond in Korea.

Buyeo was the final capital of the Baekje kingdom, and when it fell in 660 legend says three thousand court women threw themselves from the cliff of Nakhwaam — 'the rock of falling flowers'. Standing there above the winding Baengma River, it is hard to believe this quiet place was the end of a dynasty. Minutes away lies Gungnamji, Korea's oldest artificial garden pond, dug in 634, with an octagonal pavilion at its centre and a whole field of lotus in bloom in July.
