Korea's first public bathing beach, now crossed by a glass-floored cable car straight over the bay.

Songdo opened in 1913 as Korea's first public beach, then faded late in the 20th century as Haeundae took over. The city started again: sand was pumped back in, a curving boardwalk was pushed out over the water, and in 2017 a cable car a kilometre and a half long opened between the headlands on either side of the bay. The glass-floored cabin is worth the surcharge — you watch the swell run underneath your feet. At night the cable car lights and the bridge lights sit on the water, and the shellfish restaurants along the shore fill up.
