A glass deck jutting out from the cliff, above the point where the Yellow Sea and the Sea of Japan officially meet.

Oryukdo means 'five or six islands' — depending on the tide you count five or six, because one splits in two at high water. Korean hydrography treats this as the boundary between the South Sea and the East Sea, and a sign here says so outright. From the cliff, a horseshoe of glass extends about nine metres over water thirty-five metres below; visitors wear cloth slippers over their shoes to keep the glass clear. Standing at the edge and looking down, the sense of nothing underfoot is entirely real.

Travel tips
