One of Vietnam's three largest man-made lakes, with over 1,300 green islands, likened to a 'Ha Long Bay in the mountains'.
Formed by the first hydropower project in northern Vietnam, Thac Ba Lake spreads vast with over 1,300 islands large and small cloaked in green, likened to a 'Ha Long Bay in the mountains'. The still water mirrors the sky and clouds as it threads among limestone ranges and boundless forest. Visitors drift by boat to explore the magical Thuy Tien Cave, the sacred Thac Ba Temple, or stop at Dao, Tay and Cao Lan villages along the shore. At dawn, mist veils the water and the calls of forest birds echo, creating a peaceful, poetic scene rarely found in the mountains of Yen Bai.
