Vietnam's largest reservoir, its water spreading out below Ba Den mountain.

Dau Tieng was dammed on the Saigon river in the early 1980s and became the country's largest reservoir, irrigating much of the south-east. The water is broad enough that the far shore is only a green line, broken by small islands and grassy peninsulas where cattle graze loose. To the east, Ba Den mountain stands alone and lays its reflection on the surface on still afternoons. People come to fish, camp on the shore, or hire a fisherman's boat out to Nhim island — one of the few places in the south-east that feels as open as an inland sea.
