A testament to the fierce 81 days and nights of summer 1972, the resting place of thousands of soldiers in sacred ground.

Quang Tri Ancient Citadel is an indomitable symbol of the nation's history, the site of the blazing 81-day-and-night battle of summer 1972. On a patch of land only a few square kilometers wide, tens of thousands of tons of bombs and shells rained down, and countless fine sons fell to hold every inch of soil. It is said that every handful of earth here is soaked with their blood, so at the heart of the citadel today stands only a memorial in the form of a collective grave — without stele, without names. At the citadel, visitors fall silent, lighting incense and casting flowers onto the Thach Han River in memory of the young soldiers who became immortal.
