Tuan Chau Island — Quang Ninh

An island joined to shore by a causeway, holding the main port for Ha Long bay cruises.

Tuan Chau was an island; it is now joined to the mainland by a two-kilometre causeway, so you can drive straight onto it. This is where the Tuan Chau international passenger port sits — the main terminal from which almost every Ha Long bay cruise departs, overnight routes included. Beyond its role as a port, the island has been developed as a resort with an artificial beach, a musical fountain arena and hotels. For most visitors Tuan Chau is where the bay trip begins and ends rather than somewhere to stay — knowing that makes planning simpler.
