The easternmost point of mainland Vietnam, with a French-era lighthouse over the country's earliest sunrise.

Cape Dien — also called Cape Dai Lanh — is the furthest east the Vietnamese mainland reaches, so it sees the country's first sunrise. People usually set out in the dark, climb the slope to the lighthouse the French built in the late 19th century, then sit on the rocks and wait for the sun to lift out of the East Sea. The first light touches the headland before spilling down to Bai Mon directly below — a crescent of sand with a freshwater stream running straight into the surf. By day, the view from the lighthouse takes in the rock coast and Vung Ro bay, a stretch of central coastline still largely empty.
