A highland market held every Sunday morning on the White Plateau, ablaze with Flower Hmong dress.

On Sunday mornings the Bac Ha plateau wakes before the mist lifts. Flower Hmong, Dao, Tay and Nung people come in from distant hamlets, pack horses strung out along the slopes, embroidered skirts turning the whole hillside bright. The market divides cleanly: brocade in one quarter, thang co simmering in great pans in another, Ban Pho corn liquor poured into plastic jerrycans, and a horse yard where men bargain for a whole morning. This is a working market, not a tourist one — people come to trade and to see each other, and visitors are guests at a rhythm centuries old.
