A seven-tier stepped waterfall almost a hundred metres wide — the finest in Lam Dong.

Pongour falls over seven stepped tiers of rock, spread almost a hundred metres wide, so unlike the tall narrow falls you usually see, this is a wall of water. The French once called it the most beautiful waterfall in Indochina, and Emperor Bao Dai came here repeatedly. The stepped rock face is covered in green moss and in the rainy season water sheets evenly across the whole surface; in the dry season the flow drops and the tiers of rock show clearly. The falls are about fifty kilometres south of Da Lat, so they take a half day — but this is the one waterfall near Da Lat worth that distance.
