A century-old cathedral built entirely of wood, finely blending Romanesque architecture with Central Highlands stilt houses.

The Kon Tum Wooden Church is an architectural gem in the heart of the mountain town, begun by French priests in 1913 entirely of rare ca chit wood. The building is a unique fusion of the West's ancient Romanesque style and the rustic stilt houses of the local Bahnar people. The entire wooden frame is joined by mortise and tenon without a single nail, and after more than a century it still stands firm, golden under the highland sun. Step inside, and light filters through stained-glass windows, bathing the space in a shimmering, magical glow. The church courtyard is shaded by trees, a gathering place for the ethnic peoples on each festival, preserving the very soul of Central Highlands culture in every grain of wood.
