Hon Chong Promontory

Hon Chong is a granite promontory jutting into the sea at the northern edge of Nha Trang, where enormous rounded boulders lie piled on one another as though somebody had just finished stacking them and walked away. On the face of one large block are five hollows very like the marks of a hand, and local legend has it that they are where a giant grasped the rock as he fell. From the promontory you look out over Nha Trang bay with Turtle Island in the distance, and back at the mountains to the north. This is where locals come for sunrise, and unlike the town beach there is almost nobody trying to sell you anything.
