War Remnants Museum

War Remnants Museum — Ho Chi Minh City

Gary Todd · CC0

The Vietnam War told through documentary photography — heavy, direct and hard to forget.

Many international visitors rank this among the most worthwhile places in Vietnam, and it is also the one that leaves people silent longest. The yard outside displays captured aircraft, tanks, helicopters and ordnance. But the weight is in the photographic rooms upstairs: the room on the consequences of Agent Orange, and the Requiem room of work by photojournalists killed covering the war on both sides. The presentation takes a clear side and does not hide it, but most of what is on the walls is documentary photography taken by Western correspondents. Not suitable for young children.
