Northern Vietnam's classic seaside resort, with rustling casuarina trees, gentle waves, and a famous buffalo-fighting festival.

Do Son has been a beloved seaside escape for the people of Hai Phong and northern travelers for over a century. The peninsula juts out into the sea with three stretches of beach lined by green casuarinas, once a holiday retreat for Emperor Bao Dai and the elite of the French era. It is also famed for its buffalo-fighting festival held on the 9th day of the 8th lunar month, a spirited national intangible cultural heritage. In the afternoon, visitors stroll along the historic Nghieng Wharf, savor fresh seafood, and watch the sunset settle over the river mouth.
