A tiny, crackling-crisp baguette stick smeared with rich liver pate and fiery chi chuong chili sauce โ Hai Phong's most famous street snack.
Banh mi cay, or 'stick baguette,' was born in Hai Phong's old quarter and became an icon of the port city's food scene. No bigger than two fingers, it's filled with homemade liver pate and the region's signature chi chuong chili sauce, pungent and hot. Hai Phong locals love to eat a few with a glass of iced tea in the late afternoon.
