๐Ÿฌ Nguyen Village Cay Cake (Banh Cay)

A caramel-sticky-rice bar, chewy and crisp, dotted with orange-red 'crab-egg' morsels โ€” Thai Binh's tribute cake for the emperor.

Nguyen village's banh cay was once offered to the emperor: yellow-flower glutinous rice popped and folded with malt syrup, gac fruit, sesame, peanuts and candied winter melon. A bite of its faint gingery warmth with a cup of hot tea is the taste of a traditional Lunar New Year in this rice-growing homeland.

Flavour: Deeply sweet, with a gentle ginger heat
