A mound in the Plain of Reeds stacking three histories: Oc Eo temple foundations, hero shrines and a resistance base.

Go Thap is one of the few high mounds in the low-lying Plain of Reeds, which is exactly why people have lived on it for nearly two thousand years. Beneath the topsoil lie the temple foundations of the Oc Eo culture — the kingdom of Funan — with oversized bricks, deity statues and stone stelae excavated steadily since the French period. Above ground stand shrines to Vo Duy Duong and Nguyen Tan Kieu, two leaders of the anti-French resistance who made these marshes their base. Deeper in are melaleuca forest and lotus fields, and in flood season the whole site becomes an island.
