One of the most magnificent border waterfalls in Southeast Asia, its waters cascading in tiers between limestone mountains and green rice fields.
Set at the nation's frontier, Ban Gioc Waterfall tumbles down three tiers of foaming white water amid the rolling mountains of Cao Bang. In the high-water season, the Quay Son River surges across hundreds of metres, spraying mist that catches the sun to form shimmering rainbows. Visitors often ride bamboo rafts up to the foot of the falls, feeling the cool spray on their faces. Around the falls lie terraced fields and peaceful Tay and Nung villages. Dawn and dusk here are achingly beautiful, making Ban Gioc a symbol of Cao Bang's land of mountains and waters.
