The Mekong Delta's busiest floating market, where river life converges on boats brimming with goods.
While the sky is still dim before dawn, Cai Rang Floating Market is already bustling on the Hau River. Hundreds of boats gather, each hoisting a 'beo pole' hung with samples of its wares — pineapples, watermelons, sweet potatoes and vegetables piled high in the holds. The hum of boat engines, the bargaining and the laughter blend into the river's signature symphony. Sitting on a small boat, savoring a hot bowl of hu tieu and a cup of coffee amid the floating market, you fully feel the free-spirited, down-to-earth rhythm of life in the Mekong Delta.
