Dau Dang Waterfall

Dau Dang Waterfall — Bac Kan

Adam Jones from Kelowna, BC, Canada · CC BY-SA 2.0

A cascade over a kilometre long, where the Nang River meets hundreds of huge boulders at the far end of Ba Be Lake.

Where the Nang River reaches the Bac Kan – Tuyen Quang boundary, hundreds of massive boulders block its path and break the river into a cascade running more than a thousand metres. The water never falls in a single sheet; it forces through the gaps in countless small chutes, colliding and throwing spray along the whole forested stretch. A footpath on the bank passes trees leaning out over the water, each bend revealing another tier. This is also one of the few places where the rare chien catfish, weighing tens of kilos, still shelters among the rocks.
