A soaring karst through-cave where the Nang River cuts straight through the Lung Nham limestone massif.
Unlike caves that demand a climb, Puong is entered by boat, drifting straight into the mountain. The Nang River has bored clean through the Lung Nham limestone, leaving a vault so high that daylight survives only at either end. Inside the cool dark, the engine note comes back low and hollow while thousands of bats hang sleeping from the ceiling. Out the far side the river opens again into green forest and carries on toward Ba Be Lake — the finest stretch of river travel in Bac Kan.
