The world's largest pure stand of nutmeg yew — over two thousand trees, the oldest eight hundred years old.

Bijarim is the largest single-species stand of bija in the world — more than two thousand eight hundred trees, between three and eight hundred years old, growing close together on flat ground. The paths are laid with crushed red volcanic scoria, and the air inside is thick with resin; it measures very high in phytoncides, which is why Koreans come here to take a forest bath. At the far end stands the ancestral bija, over eight hundred years old, with a trunk three people cannot reach around. The forest is said to have grown from bija seeds that villagers used as medicine and threw away.
