Small walnut-shaped cakes filled with red bean and a piece of walnut โ the classic travel snack.
Created in Cheonan in 1934, hodu-gwaja is baked in walnut-shaped moulds, the smooth red bean paste wrapping a nub of walnut. Because Cheonan is a major road junction, the cakes became the snack people buy on the way through, sold at every motorway service area in the country.
Flavour: Mildly sweet and nutty
