🍱 Honam banquet table (hanjeongsik)

A table covered with twenty or thirty small dishes — the speciality of Korea's best-eating region.

In Gwangju and South Jeolla a hanjeongsik meal can run to thirty dishes: braised fish, grilled meat, seasoned greens, salted seafood, several kimchi, soup and a sweet to finish. Plates have to be stacked because the table runs out of room. The land is rich and the sea is close, so this tradition of abundance is old and still going.
