🍙 Chungmu gimbap (Tongyeong)

Plain rice rolls served with spicy squid and radish kimchi on the side.

Fishermen from Tongyeong (formerly Chungmu) took rice rolls to sea, but filled rolls spoiled quickly in the sun. The solution: roll the rice plain and keep the spicy squid and radish kimchi separate, picking them up as you eat. That practical fix became the local speciality, sold all along the harbour.
