The world's only park devoted to clans, with stones carved with the crests of two hundred Korean lineages.

Koreans have only about three hundred surnames, but each divides into clan seats — a Kim of Gimhae is not a Kim of Gyeongju — and that system shaped how people introduced themselves for centuries. Ppuri Park is the only park in the world built for it: over two hundred stone steles, each carved with the crest and history of one clan seat, ranged along a hillside beside a stream. Koreans come to find their own family's stele and be photographed in front of it. For a foreign visitor it is the quickest way to understand why the question 'where is your clan from' once mattered so much. There is a genealogy museum on site.
