The reservoir supplying central Korea, with a lakeside road counted among the country's finest drives.
Daecheongho is Korea's third largest reservoir, supplying drinking water to Daejeon, Cheongju and the wider central region. Because it is a water source, most of the shoreline is restricted from building — and that is exactly what has kept the landscape almost untouched. The lakeside road winds between headlands and small bays, with stretches where the trees close overhead into a tunnel and small observation points set at the best views. There is also a twenty-one stage walking trail circling the lake. Autumn mist rising off the water at dawn is the region's stock photograph.
